若い世代だと知らないかもしれませんが、

１９世紀中頃から始まり、日本では明治後期には「広告人夫」と呼ばれており、大正時代にはサンドウィッチマンと呼ばれていたそうです。
最近見ねぇな、てか実際見たことはあったかな…なレベルですが、若い世代も画像みて、知ってるには知ってると思います。
これが名前の由来かと調べてみたところ、お笑いコンビのサンドウィッチマンは当時３人のトリオで
伊達・富沢が共に170cm、90kg前後に対し、浜田ツトム（50kg)が細かったため、「サンドウィッチみたいだな」というところからだという。
